if you got power check in

I've had the opposite problem. I never lost power, yet DTE
has called me "updating me on my power outage".

I think this storm simply over-taxed DTE's system for
handling this mess.

This can't be more true. We've been crazy busy since Wednesday.
The outage system definitely has some bugs to be worked out as it estimates outage to be much larger than they actually are which results in customers receiving calls like you did.
As much as people hate them, the Smart Meters are very useful in these instances to verify if a customer is indeed energized.

I understand, I'm trying to be patient with my AAA insurance claim for my roof,
they still haven't been to my house yet. And just for the record, I do have a DTE
"Smart Meter".

It sounds like you work for DTE, thank you for all you folks are doing.

Thank you.
Hopefully you can get an agent out there soon to assess the damage soon. I'm sure they're probably quite busy as well.

Understatement of the year. DTE really has never had a grip on outages and repair times.

In 2014 we had a storm come through our neighborhood. Knocked out power for 8 days. The estimate system every single day said power would be restored by 11:30 pm and for 8 days that was incorrect.

Best way to get an estimate is to talk to DTE workers in your area. They're more realistic and have a better grasp of how long it will take for repairs.

Some are still without power..... couple Traffic lights on 8 mile are still out.....

Would totally suck to have no power for two weeks

Still out in Troy. Estimate was last night at 11:30 but didn't have high hopes on that one.

So somehow we made it through last week with no power outages,
then last night, just before midnight, we lost power.......and now the
generator just ran out of gas........and now we REALLY lost power!

Small outage area, 176 of us. First restore report was 2:15 last night,
next one was 9am today......we shall see.

DTE called & said new restore time is 1pm........then 10 minutes later
they called again and said "restore time is 9 am" - that was at 9:30am!

At this rate, I may never have DTE power again!

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, things could be a LOT worse.

US-23 was shut down yesterday afternoon...right near Cone Rd in both directions due to a downed power line

Yes I knew about that, my outage is not related to that.

Now DTE is saying "no estimate of restore of power".

Maybe I should become Amish?

Strange.

The wind storm was on Wednesday last week and we were fine all the way through it. We lost power on Thursday around 6pm... well after the winds had stopped. Out for 3 days.

Finally got the power back on around 8pm.

Good thing too, I was almost out of fuel again!
