I have a question for EVO 4G owners/Sprint customers...

Have many of you checked the internet speed on your phone? When using my browser at home, it used to be pretty fast. No lag, pages loaded quickly, video streamed great. Then it slowed way down a few weeks ago. I cannot even stream video, and web pages are pretty slow to load. I downloaded an internet speed test app and it shows download speeds averaging 100kb/s in my house. Anywhere else around town is only 500-600kbs on a good day. This has been the case with the EVO I own now, my previous Samsung Moment, and my wifes Moment as well.
Sprint says that there are no tower issues. I think Sprint kinda put the cart before the horse by pushing a 4G phone when Detroit will not have 4G service for at least the next few months.

I've done the FCC speed test at multiple locations, and at home with the WiFi backing, it flies. Out on it's own, it's considerably slower, but still much faster than my Pre was.

My 3GS consitently pulls between 2-4Mb down with no wifi around the house. When I was at Milan it was a little over 1Mb and after the new tower they put in Monroe a few weeks back I get 3G in Milan now. It's too bad the Evo had to come out under such a shitty company because its a bad ass phone. I've always had "hit or miss" luck with sprint.

my sprint moment android os phone is plenty fast on the interent, no comparison to wifi backing but its fast enought o not be annoying

I had mine in a 4G area last week. I haven't done any speed tests, but it was noticeably WAY faster loading videos on 4G than on 3G. Streaming video in the NASCAR app was way smoother on the 4G too. Can't wait for that to make it here, it was pretty awesome. No battery issues either when it actually finds a 4G network and is able to stay connected to it all day.

I just got 446kb/s download speed through speedtest.net. this in a house in warren this morning. Pretty shitty
considering the competition is supposedly consistently triple that.

My brother in law has an evo and was in chicago a couple weeks ago, showed me a screenshot of it doing something in the neighborhood of 6.0 down

Chicago has 4th service. Bastards. I just got 1.4 meg in downtown Detroit. I live in new Baltimore where nobody has fast wireless service.
