Woohoo! After almost 3 years off and only using one hand and the opposite at that, I can tig again! It's not the prettiest yet but, with enough practice I hope to be as half as good as I once was.

If you dont mind me asking, what happened to your hand to where you couldnt/cant use it?

and that looks a hell of a lot better than i could do, nice work
 
You can tig again and with one hand in your pocket!
Not many people can say they can do that...
Good work I bet it feels good to go at it again..

Yea, thanks it tricky getting used to only using one hand. I got in a motorcycle accident 2 1/2 years ago that paralyzed my left arm from the shoulder down. I used to be left handed and was a pipe fitter/ fabricator.

Thanks Gary, and it feel good to be able to do it again.
 
Thanks guys, I'm going to meek tweaking the bracket (this is my first design) till I get it just right then ill draw it up in CAD and have my buddy water jet a few out for me to mess with.

thats neat!! ck systems worldwide make tid feeder units that are pretty cool, you can adjust every possible setting you can emagine...
i thought about using a old shitty 110 mig and take the gun apart and use the trigger button on the torch to feed wire
 
Keep up the good work! I was paralyzed 10 years ago in a motorcycle accident (T-4 Para, complete), I run the pedal with my elbow, and feed with the same hand. (I know, totally different animal that what you have going on) It can be kind of tricky, I've tried some of the hand-operated torch controls, never found one I really liked. They are a pain to try and adjust while keeping a straight bead, and not dipping the tungsten. I liked the momentary switch best, but it wasnt wrth a damn for aluminum, you could only go maybe 3 inches before I got too hot. Alumium is what I mostly did. (Radiators).

Well I've got two perfedctly good arms and I also have VERY good fine motor skills and still you guys can weld better than me With your respectifve disabilities.

More power to you guys!!!!!
 
Thanks guys, still a work in progress, designing a new one now to be cut out on a water jet and have several done so I can figure out what angle works the best.
