While he didn't cost us much, I don't see him making that much of an impact. He's hitting .250, has only 13 home runs (Santiago has 7 playing part time), with 70+ RBI's. The RBI's are good, but this depends on if there are runners on base. The guy is slow so don't expect any stolen bases.
He plays 1st Base, but Cabrera is there. He plays a little 3rd, but Inge is there. How much ground can he cover in the outfield?
A bat's a bat.
they are going after him for the DH spot i would say and also to give cabrera a day off here and there. plus switching may help spark his bat a little more.
i like it. was a very cheap good pick up.
Isn't this what Guillen is doing? Seriously, I know they need a bat, but I don't think this is the difference maker.
They needed to get Adam Dunn outfielder who drives in runs, hits homeruns with obp above .400.

Getting Adam Dunn wasn't going to happen. First, he wouldn't have cleared waivers. Second, the cost would have been far higher in prospects or guys on the team.
As for Avila, I think Laird just needs to have a seat so he can play.
