how to take better pictures?

Add naked girls to them they'll come out great!

I like this idea! I used to have a link saved on my computerwith general guidelines on where to start then fine tune from there. I'll see if I still have it when I get home from work.

I'd say make sure you can get the proper exposure and white balance, and you're nearly there. Those two things alone will make your pic's really pop a lot more.

2/3's rule, good lighting, delayed exposure with the right brightness, setting depends on the car and what angles you're going for.

Have seen lighting-aids that look like giant sunscreens that I want to try, they are basically a big flexible sheet of mylar...gold, mirror, different colors and reflectivity. You reflect the sunlight onto your subject for better lighting.

There's no shortcut to it. No magic button.

There are lots of good online tutorials. Read those, go practice, read more. Sign up for some photography forums and lurk, read, watch, etc. Then when you get brave, let them critique a few of your pics. Some are assholes, but most will help you, even if they're rude about it.

That's a very difficult question to answer. TOTALLY depends on what you're trying to achieve. I have this book:

And I found it very helpful when I was first starting out. Not saying I'm anywhere near a pro now, but that book really hit on some basics, some theory, and overall tips to help make pictures as good as possible. I'd say give that a shot...it's cheap, and was really helpful for me. At least go into B&N and check it out.
