how to make your rearend stronger

This years Emmys goest to we'll call him Spider man for his attempt to weld the spyder gear to make a posi unit :thumbsups:rockwoot::applause:

Now that is some welding skills there, just when you think you have seen the dumbest thing ever. Someone will always top it I tell you.

Great find !!!!

He did a good job of setting it up with the thread asking about welding it. He could have done a better job of leading people on and selling it better.....still hilarious.

Don't laugh...Welding spider gears was a common practice...I had GM bring my shop a rear axle out of their 1959 corvette concept vehicle that won the SCCA National Championship in 1960. It seems the engineers decided to weld the spider gears together to make it a posi. They replaced the tires with some new sticky racing tires, and snapped a axle shaft. Talk about a bitch to repair. Everything was one of a kind.

Very true, My family owned a couple yunk yards and I had a guy that would buy spider gears out of rear ends so he could weld them up to make a posi. I asked him why he didn't just buy a posi and be done with it he said this is cheaper.... I just couldn't under stand....

Welding the spider gears together is one thing, this "guy" welded the pinion to the ring and couldn't figure out why it didn't work.

Go to the third page and he admits it was a joke, he had the junk laying around.
