How to flush fuel rails?

I'd like to flush the stock fuel rails for my LT1 to make sure they're clean internally. Is this something I can do myself or do I need to take it to a fuel injection specialist? If it can be DIY, what should I flush it with and how?

what do you think is in your fuel rails that necessitates flushing?

You could apply vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator and cycle the key a few times. This will flush the rails out but whatever was in the rails will be in your fuel tank.

They are off of the engine and completely disassembled. There was a bunch of gunk and oil around the injectors when I removed them, and even though I cleaned it before I removed them, there are still a lot of particles in the injector bungs on the fuel rails where the o-rings would go. I don't know if any fell inside, plus I'm sure that in the process of cleaning that out something will fall in. I just wanted to flush out the fuel rails while they were off to ensure there's no contamination inside.

ooh they are off the car.

remove the fuel pressure regulator and get a garden hose.

The rails are aluminum, they wont rust. HOSE em.

Anyone have any tips for making sure the injectors are relatively clean? I don't really want to spend $160 to clean the stock injectors since you can buy bigger injectors for not a whole lot more than that. Like the rails, there's dirt and grime on them, just want to clean them the best I can without paying a lot for it.

I think livernios offer injector cleaning I have no idea how much $$$ they charge though.

Most places I've seen charge about $20 per injector. I've seen low-mileage 30lb SVOs in the low $200's. Doesn't seem worth it to me since I don't know if the stock 24lb will be enough or not. If I knew they would be enough I'd consider it.
