how tight do u tighten rockers on a solid roller

my buddy just got his 383 s10 runnin.. his uncle told him to do 3/4 of a turn then tighten them... is that correct or is that too tight? cause that what he did and hes having some issues tuning it right.. and wanna make sure that was the right amount..

That is incorrect. you need a set of feeler guages. When the exaust open you do the intake and when the intake closes you do the exaust. You need to look on the cam spec sheet and see what the manufacture recommends for lash(gap you will measure with the feeler guages).

Right now, the valves are probably staying open. his uncle describied how you would maybe do a hydrualic roller.
