Time has come to put an exhaust on my mustang. Being that its got a omemade turbo kit, I was planning on running jus a single 3" pipe and muffler, but I saw the Ponydown 3" pipe that splits to dual 2.5" and is set up to bolt up to foxbody catbacks. Pypes has a decent looking 409 stainless dual exhaust kit for like $350 and i figure with 2 mufflers and a turbo, itd prob be nice and quiet, just like I want.

How much will a 3" split to dual 2.5" pipes support? think id be better off just running a 3 or 3.5" custom deal?

I've always heard the rule of thumb was dual 2.5" would support ~500-550 crank hp before becoming a restriction, however I've heard of/known several F-body people running much higher power than this through a good single 3" catback. Sure it might be a little bit of a restriction, but IMO the sound/fitment would be worth it.

2.5" dual will outflow a single 3", so if you were going to use a single 3" downpipe anyway I doubt you'll lose anything using the Ponydown kit.
