trying to sort out the lighting on my 86 coupe.

the marker lights, next to the headlights ( not below ).... i have power to the socket, new bulbs, checked the bulbs off the battery = good, light dont work when plugged in. tried some grease in the socket, retested for power, good. bent the tabs in, retested power=good, put bulb in and nothing!

how in the hell?

its doing this on both side of the car

yep, ground on both sides of the car ( on the inner fender ) are for all the lights up front. and i am testing across the socket.

are you sure the lights are still good... make sure your getting the right voltage at the socket also... maybe its a really weak that will light the tester and not the lamp

How are you testing it? Using what device and where/what are you checking?

digital fluke meter, dont have the model # handy.

across the socket and also to chassis ground. i am going to cut one of the sockets open, see and whats what

Do you know how to do a voltage drop test? If you are using a DVOM it might have 12 volts but not be able to handle the load. I would do a VD test on both power and ground sides before you start cutting.

Let me know if you need more help.

yup, under load it lost it. bad connection in BOTH sockets. i checked ohms across both wires and they were fine. brain farted on the load test.
