I had to take my van into the dealership for some recall work. They said they recommended me getting a coolant flush because it looked a little old/cloudy(car has 60k on it). I mean i know they make money on this stuff and all, but seriously $100 for it? Is there some new special way to flush a coolant system now that i'm not aware of. besides dont they just hook it up to a machine now that pretty much just recycles it?

Not the best price, but not most expensive either. Figure it takes the tech anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on a lot of things. They also have the cost of coolant included on top of their labor rate. So if it were an hour, most shops charge ~$80/hour nowadays, they only charged you $20 for the fresh coolant.....

What this guy said. Sucks, but labor rates have gone up and so have materials. Could you do it yourself cheaper? Yep, but do you want the hassle of disposing of the old coolant, buying the parts, taking the time to do it?

True - I forgot about the cost of disposal for the old shit.

Disposal is usually only $2.00. There is a cleaning kit that is ran through the system with the flush though. That usually costs more than the coolant.

Right. But it is all things that add up.

Ashit the gm dealer in port Huron is 149.99. Shit gal. Of mineral spirits an letrun for a while then drain yourself a few times and it done. Even cleans out that radiator stop leak shit to.
