How did you find your job?

How did you come across your job? This drive and company is shit. It's money for the time being but I need something else. I go for my 3rd interview today but if for some reason it doesn't work out I'm back to square one. What's worked for you guys?

Headhunters, but that's how my industry rolls most of the time.

I've got my Associates in Automotive Service and Bachelors in Business Management. Currently, I'm managing a quick oil change. They just treat employees like complete dirt and I've got over an hour drive. Wouldn't be so bad if I could move but I can't afford to with the dick pay they give me.

I honestly hate career Builder.

My current job I was hired due in part to my Uncle getting me in right out of High School.
I started at the very bottom and was recognized for my abilities and the way I conducted business.
Due to that I have been able to move up pretty decent over the years here. Been here over 15 years now. Crazy

I am actively pursuing LinkedIn the most as of late. Head Hunters are your friend these days I think. A lot of companies do not have the HR staff to initially seek out potential canidates so the reach out to the Recruiting agencies to do the initial work for them.

Knowing people is the best though. That is what it mostly takes to get that face to face interview.

There are only really three rules / practices to follow
to land some good work or job:

1) Networking.
2) Networking.
3) Networking.

Networking means = You inform most everyone you meet your
desire to “broaden your horizons” , you put yourself in places
(meetings, cooperatives, gatherings, parties etc.) & engage
those around you. Success is there for the taking, for those who
simply take it!

One other tactic is to do your homework about an organization,
knowing about it means not only understanding it, but you
care about it.

Lastly, “professionally & friendly”. Most everyone appreciates
a person who is proficient in their given field of expertise, they
also desire a fellow professional who is pleasant to work with
& be around – be that person!

quite a few guys here live in the clarkston area

That isn't too bad. I'm in Goodrich and I can be to Clarkston (M15 and I75) in about 10-15 depending on lights/traffic. I'd really like to move to Lake Orion soon. What f's me over on location is the fiance's horse. It's stored in Clarkston. Yes, we can move it but where she currently has it she gets free board. She just has to feed a few times a week. Her feeding horses and paying no board > $200/mo.! At my current job it only takes me 15-20min to get to 14 and crooks once I hit M24. That's only 1/3 of my job. Going down M15 is what takes most of the time.
