Hot tub won't heat!!

Hey, anyone have any pointers on what might be wrong with my hot tub??

I've replaced the heater element. There is power to it (120 volts). I'm measuring 9.2 ohms across the element.....does that sound right?

Thanks!!

Could be a bad pressure switch, they go bad quite often, and will keep the heating element from coming on as it should. There is a place off of Bunert near 11 mile that does tub repairs, Mark V(5), 586-778-4589,

Measuring resistance through the heating element while submursed in water is not a reliable test because water is a conductor. To test it, you can ensure proper voltage is present and check with an amp meter for current draw or pull the element and test the resistance. You should be OK though since its new.

I only worked on a couple hot tubs but like previously mentioned there is a switch to ensure theres water flow which must be satisfied before the element will get energized. I'm not sure if it's a pressure switch or flow switch but reading the schematic should tell you.

Just a quick note: water itself is not a conductor however the minerals in the water allow it to conduct. Pure H20 will not conduct electricity.

Ah....there is a hose attached to the manifold that routes into the control panel. I'll look into that.

Thanks guys!! I'll keep ya posted. I gots to have my tub!
