Trying to find a remote for my dinning room but keep hitting dead ends... It needs to be RF remote due to the fact the box is in a closet. But here's the tricky part... I need the remote to be able to switch between HDMI inputs for a switch box... For example I have the cable box and Blu Ray player hooked up into the switch box... And that box has a single HDMI out to the TV... I want to be able to switch between the cable box and Blu Ray player from the remote only without going to the switch box and manual switching it over... But I also want the remote to keep the functions of Xfinity/Comcast remote... :help:

Maybe get a repeater and use 2 HDMI outputs? Is this switchbox manual?

Can't use 2 HDMI outputs... And it needs to be automatic by remote... I have the HDMI extender fish through the walls/floors of the house in cat 6 and it only allows 1 HDMI signal...

I'm sure our situations differ, but I ended up running some huge HDMI cables through the walls (22g) and getting a wired repeater to go from the TV to the rest of the boxes. Much simpler than what you're asking, not sure if it's feasible though. I'm sure you probably already thought of this too, as I'm an A/V retard myself.

Wish I could do it that way but I can't... I'm at the point where I'm about to punch a hole in the wall and call it a day...

Is your switchbox RF? If so, why not put your remote in learn mode and find a code that works? :dunno: I use wifi and my phone/tablet to control most of my stuff...I dont get those sorts of pitfalls.

I haven't bought the switchbox yet... I want to see if there is like a combo pack... Where I can by the remote/switchbox all together... Or even if I peice it together I don't give a fuck at this point...

Piecing it together will be your best bet. Grab a switchbox thats controlled by RF, get a RF universal remote, put the remote in "learning" mode, and itll find a code for you. ;)

I'm with TIN. Go the WiFi and tablet route. I use my 2 iPad's with Logitech's Harmony Link. The only problem I can see with you going this route would be the TV turning on/off since the signal sent out isn't broadcast via WiFi. You can use any iOS or Android device to control it then. Just need the app installed.

Or just get up and change the channel by hand.

(Had to interject one more useless comment. I'm out now.)

Good luck.

They make z-wave, RF, and IR HDMI switches. A Logitech Harmony remote is programmable for most anything. I use 890 Advanced that has an IR blaster and also uses z-wave. The nice thing about z-wave is that it is a mesh network so you just need to have z-wave enabled devices that can communicate with each other, IE: messaging forwarding.

I'd probably just get a receiver to replace the switch.

call Paulson's audio/video. Ask for Matt. Tell him I sent you. He should be able to help you out 248 553 4100

Your absolute cheapest option that will work is going to be a remote operated HDMI switch from monoprice, and a Home Theater Master RF20 from Amazon.
