Hodgkins Lymphoma??

I don't like to air my laundry on the internet but after 4 months of horsefuck and many biopsies that we were told were negative....we got the call last night that my wife has Hodgkins disease. I'm scared as fuck but trying to be positive. I remember Brandon (little2v) saying that he was going through this and other people chiming in about it but I figured I would start a new thread about it. (BTW, if you read this Brandon, how are things going??? I hope well!!)

Just curious what we can expect?? That doctor told me that he believes it's stage 2 (he's waiting for more info) and he has never lost a patient in over 20 years to Hodgkins. That didn't really make me feel all that great right now though.

Not looking for sympathy at all. Just curious as to what we're in for.

Thanks all!!

I had stage 2 Hodgkins Disease when I was 16 years old.....I am now 28 and just had my yearly physical check up last week....Everytnhing is still fine.......I have been told by my doctors that of all the cancers to have Hodgkins is the one to have, because it is one of the most curable. I had to do either 4 or 6 months of chemo and NO radiation. I had a tumor in my chest and in my collar bone. The chemo cleared it up very well. I have felt great the past 12 years, and everyone I have met that had this disease has the same scenario......If I were you I would be worried as this is still a serious illness.....But I try not to let it eat you up too bad, as im SURE she will be just fine.....This is VERY curable, and I know this first hand......Im sure they are even better now then they were 12 years ago too!!! Please PM me with ANY questions you have...I would be more then happy to talk to you....I know it helped me when I was sick to talk to other survivors!!!!

One of my best friends had the same thing 10 years ago. He is still doing fine to this day and it has never come back. Good luck and my prayers are with your wife for a quick recovery.

I have a form of non-Hodgkins that is incurable. I am not considering any more chemo at this point.

Who did the biopsy? I can put you in touch with another oncologist at Henry Ford. I had my initial diagnosis done in Seattle and had the lab results and slides sent to Henry Ford as well.

Damn dude, are you sure all hope is lost?? My Dad was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins back in 79 and was told he would only last 6 months. He fought it for 15 years but a bone marrow transplant finally cured him for 15 years now. The Oncologist we're dealing with is named Schwartz and is out of Huron Valley....He claims he works with 2 of the best Lymphoma doctors in the world out of Sloan-Kettering in NY and someone out of Maryland. If you want I can hook you up with them......I wouldn't give up hope yet, todays technology is pretty amazing especially compared to what my Dad dealt with 30 years ago.

It was a doctor out of Henry Ford that cured my Dad but I can't remember his name. Prolly retired by now.
