HMMWV crash

i woulda thunk it woulda faired a little better, what speed was that?

actually, no, the better the overall vehicle fairs, the more the occupants are hurt, look close, yeah, the front it totally folded, but the pass. compartment is near mint(pass. comp. will survive a landmine, lol)

in a normal crash yes, but in a hummvee, I wanna be able to keep moving if need be. I dont care about a little whiplash when I just got crashed into in order to get me stopped so someone could launch an RPG at me

I think most everyone's conception of better is how the vehicle looks after the crash which is not really the case. They could make a car that would look great after a wreck however occupants would simply die of internal injuries.

The reason the vehicles crumple is to absorb energy, the more energy the vehicle absorbs the less the occupants do. White out pointed out some great examples in the photos he posted. When a smaller vehicle hits the hummer they crumple much like the hummer did when it hit a stationary object. Basically you want the car to crumple and absorb energy but you don't want intrusion into the passenger compartment where people sit.

if you throw 12k + lbs at a wall something is gonna give..

Those fuckers weight a shit ton! it takes a heavy duty cherry picker just to pull a door..

That was vs an immovable object. When it is hmmwv vs. other things, it crushes them.

When your impact zone is the front tires & suspension, then the truck (unless equipped with a winch) will not be drive-able after a severe impact.

Yeah but thats a H2 them things are garbage. Its so the wifey can feel incharge, and the men wanting more.... Or there gay..

the front on the armored hummers are no different than a regular one. the only difference is the cab is armored, and lots of it. about 6,000 pounds of armor. a regular humvee is in the 5500lbs area, and those unloaded are over 11000. the door it self is in the 400lbs area with out any add on armor kits.
