How do you build the world's quickest car? Well, first you take one of the quickest cars already on the road, then you add more power and charge millions for each example.
Maxximus G-Force: 1600 HP Ultima claims world's quickest car title
In this case, chauffer Marlon Kirby and financier David McMahan took the Ultima GTR – which already claims the fastest quarter-mile, 0-100-0, Nürburgring (almost) and Top Gear (unofficial) track times – and dropped in an all-aluminum 7.0-liter Chevy small-block V8 with twin turbochargers to bring the power rating up to 1600 horses, calling the resultant monster the Maxximus G-Force. All those ponies drive through a three-speed sequential gearbox, while six-piston AP Racing calipers gripping 14.2-inch discs handle the stopping power.

Housed in a 2700-pound frame, that's apparently enough to get the G-Force up to 60 miles-per-hour in 2.1 seconds, to 100 mph in 4.5 seconds and run the 0-100-0 sprint in 8.8 seconds. Nine minutes of fuel is all it can carry at those rates, but considering that McMahan and Kirby are charging $3 million a pop, we doubt a big bill at the gas pump would be an owner's biggest concern.

Daily driver for sure. I would use it as a grocery getter. I think i could fit a gallon of milk and maybe a box of cereal per load.

Is it just me but is the price of that thing a bit ridiculous? That and I'd really, really be worried about the reliability.

Anything pushing that much hp / ft-lbs is going to be a challenge getting it to the ground. Personally, I wouldn't want one pushing more than ~800 hp / ft-lbs so I could actually use it.

Still sweet none the less... :D

Well lets see. Clutch, Belt, Fuel. And nothing was really proven on the video except the driver sucks.

I am not sure I could do better on my first time out. But considering what the care is able to do, I think I could figure out a sweet spot pretty fast before burning the clutch to a nub.

That car can be built for 100 grand or less if you tried. Don Bailey's already done it on the yellow one that's on all the youtube vids.

Best quote from video 2:
0-100 in 6.4 seconds we're checking to see if it's a record...lol

Nine minnutes of fuel??........that means you have enough gas to make it to gas gas station and back if you are geting in the throttle at all with it.

Ha ha, thanks Jason! Saw that on Pistonheads a few days ago. Pretty sweet set-up. Mine will be just a LS2 or LS3 for starters. But there is always the chance it could end up twin turbo'd once I get bored of it. ;)

Yes their price is high, but there is a lot of work that goes into building a car to that level. You can buy a BASE kit from Ultima for around 42k. Add in the AP Racing brakes, and other upgrades and you are closer to the low 50's. I am hoping to build one for around 65k when I can afford to do so.

Yeah at those power levels it gets tricky with the clutch and transaxles. Thankfully I know someone that sells upgraded components, axles, etc. So once I am ready I am starting with the better components. ;)

He may have been dealing with an organic clutch too. My friend Jeff Schwartz has a TT Ultima pushing over 1,000hp and has to run one of those clutches to handle the power. NOT a friendly clutch for regular driving. It bucks off the line, etc. But yeah it did seem like he was still getting used to the car in the vid.

Agreed. Mine will be around the 400-500hp range when I build it. That is all you need with a car that light. Ok, it will be there for starters. I may desire more power later on. We'll just have to see.

Woohoo! Stumbled across pics of Jeff's car from Woodward last year.

The TT beasts next to each other.

And their crazy drivers. :D
