Dealership installed aftermarket remote start
Was working fine. Took car in to have power steering hose replaced. At dealership I'm never going to again.
Now the remote start turns on, I think it attempts to start due to lights etc coming on and the usual horn honk of acknowledgement. Then it will turn on any of the usual accessories I left on (radio, lights, blower, etc) then honk once more. But does not start.

Placing the key in the ignition at this point, will not start the car. Only after shutting the remote start off by using the remote again will the car start.

The quick stop function still works. I am able to stop. Key the remote start, remove key, and car will stay running. Then place key in and carry on.

I used to install these at the dealer and depending on how many horn honks, it will self diag and tell you exactly what's preventing it from starting. I'll check and get back to you.

Sounds like the unit needs to relearn/reset the tach signal programming or crank type settings

I had this happen with an aftermarket remote start, there was a mercury sensor thingy under the hood and it got bent to the wrong angle when I was working on the car and it did this same exact thing with not starting.

^That would be the first thing I'd check as well, look under the good and check anything they may have removed, if they disconnected the battery it may need to relearn, there's often a valet switch under the column that needs to be reset if the batt is disconnected.

The mercury switches are often bypassed when installing these kits.

I checked for hood sensor, didn't see anything on the hood besides the wiper nozzles.

Any idea which color the tach wire would be or how to reprogram the tach?

Found the button under the dash, pressed it. No dice, still acts the same. Manual I have does not mention any sort of duration to press the button, if I need to hold it for like ten seconds or something

Tach wire should be coming from the driver firewall area. If they did a good job installing it there should be some split wire loom around a single wire.

Sorry I forgot about this post , Every unit needs different steps to program or relearn the tach signal and to be honest not many shops use them anymore. A lot of the newer interface modules get the tach signal via a canbus system . If you have the model number shoot me a pm

This. Everything is either plug n play or spliced into the body harness within the passenger compartment and those wires are usually just parking lights and horn(I think). I tried to access the installation and programming guide online but my webviewer is acting funny. Ill try in a few.

CHIRPS/ PROBLEM
1 Chirp DNA-9 not programmed correctly, or the
DNA-9 harness is damaged.
2 Chirps BRAKE is being pressed, or the HOOD is open.
3 Chirps One of the vehicle DOORS is open.
4 Chirps TACH not programmed.
5 Chirps The KEY is in the ignition.
6 Chirps The remote start system is in SERVICE/VALET

Is DNA the center module or the pats one?

Harness looked ok, no bent wires. The only questionable piece is the splice in connectors. I never trust them. If I get some time and it warms up I'll try soldering them in.
