HELP:: who uses progressive ins. ???

i had progressive on my old truck when it got totalled... they gave me a check for the highest retail value on it and I had the check in my hand not 48 hours after the accident happened.

It was a good rate, and I have progressive on my current truck, but only storage insurance for now

Again, I can't comment on settlements. But the repair process is more of a pain for the body shop than the owner. The owner doesn't usually know there's a problem.

I am putting ins. On to vehicles and got a good rate with progressive..DO ANY OF you USE PROGRESSIVE, IF SO THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS PLEASE!!! Thanks in advance..

I guess that's what my biggest concerne is,are they good at pay outs on a total loss,do they hassle body shops about repairs, stuff of that nature...

I typically cringe when I see a progressive job come in the door, They will use AS MANY aftermarket parts as possible along with used, the only way a new oem part will go on your vehicle is if there are NO other options.

FWIW...I'm sure you will find all insurance companies on here. If you notice 99% of the rants about progressive are when it comes down to a claim.

My best advice, would be to shop around. See who has comparable (not always the best) rates for the coverage/deductable you get and read user reviews online. Check 2-3 years shop around again for insurance and you may be able to get it cheaper with the same policy. Good luck.

Every insurance company has guidelines. They are certainly not the only company that deals the way you describe above. Allstate, Nationwide, Progressive, State Farm, etc., etc., all work this way. If all an insurance company did was install new parts, your insurance would triple or quadruple.

Auto Owners is probably the most liberal, but they are far from cheap.

I know exactly how all the Insurance companys work, I work with them 11hours a day. Yes every company has perameters but some are a hell of alot better then the others and it seems all the "Internet Insurance" companys as we call them have the worst. State Farm and AAA both require NO aftermarket sheetmetal be used where as progressive, nationwide, allstate its all a go.

My massive accident was almost a year ago. I have progressive, and I honestly can't do anything but rave about them. They messed some wording up to me, but once I clarified some things it all was ok. I got fair market value for my car and have had little in the way of problems. The only issue was they didn't initially want to pay out on the uninsured motorist part of my plan ($50k), but as soon as I got a lawyer and showed them the damage done to me, they cut me a check and I had it within a week. I probably could have avoided the lawyer if I would have been a little more patient, but I wasn't, so it was my own fault for that.

There isn't another company out there that offers every day "stiffs" as many discounts. You get a discount for having it auto pay, a discount for using paperless billing, a discount for multiple cars, a discount for logging your total mileage each year with them. At a minimum, I probably save about 25% on any other company, and that includes State Farm. State Farm also wanted to charge me 4k every 6 months. I have two speeding tickets on my record and that's it. Progressive is just over 2k before any of my discounts.

i have them, when i crashed (told them i was swerving for a deer) they tried to drop me and void my claim because my car had a 4pt roll bar and way "modified for race use"

Again, all insurance companies look at this stuff this way. It's up to the appraiser whether or not he or she will report it. Most including me, would not. I did report one because the guy was an ass (don't fuck with the adjuster ). I had my SCCA car insured with State Farm, but only because I had PL/PD. If I had put collision on the car, they never would have insured it with numbers on the side, a 8-point roll cage, racing belts, etc.

There was a kid that had an old porsche non turbo whatever and hit a deer, Brought it in and he was kinda an ass to the insurance company and they dropped his claim casue it had a cold air intake on it.

WOW, big thanks to all who replied..no matter if you had a good or bad thing to say, thats excactlly what i was looking for...this info. will deff. help me make my decission on wich route to take..

Add one positive experience with progressive. We've been with the for few years now. I change cars often (too often ;)) and their online system is great if you want to add, delete or change your policy, no need to call or anything. Quick quotes and great discounts on multiple vehicles. I did couple claims last year, and was satisfied with the outcome. They do have that "corporate feel" that I could live without, but it goes with the job I guess.

the two cars im gonna ins. are just average dd,s,so i think i will give them a try for now from what all of you have said!!!! thanks again for the input..

They're the only place that will insure me at a reasonable rate. I've never filed a claim, but the few people I've talked to that have had problems, one person couldn't get them to pay because her accident was in Ohio and apparently that was a problem.

From my friends who work at body shops, they say progressive is the worst as far as paying for quality parts and service, etc. I have them but if I ever have to use them I'm not expecting any type of quality. They're a cheap insurance company, not like your state farm, AAA, etc...

It all goes back to you get what you pay for.

I Use AAA on All MY Cars Trucks because god forbide anything happen To me or them they will get put back together Right. Progressive likes to dick around alot when it comes to Repairs.

However,
I use Progressive for all the toys, Ie Quad, snowmobile, boat, bikes...

Um, no offense, and I'm not defending Progressive...BUT

Every body shop bitches and moans about every adjuster who walks in the door...

They may bitch when you walk in the door but Not this shop!!!

[Insight collision repair magazine rates ins. co's on what they pay for and what they dont progressive is always one of the worst and State Farm Is always one of the best] I have them but if I ever have to use them I'm not expecting any type of quality.
