I have a innovatives wideband A/F gauge, I have a jet kit. Imagine this ,I have a fast car and suck at working on carbs. Anyone in the Warren area willing to make a few bucks and help me get this thing tuned right ? or at least close...

The car is running at about 7.4:1 from 2000 to 6000 rpm (that is a LITTLE rich).

car has canfield heads, solid roller cam , victor intake, 4150 carb (guessing 950 cfm) around 13:1 compression. Any advice or anyone interested??????

I do plan to dyno it but would like to be a little closer than what I am before doing so...

What cubic inch engine is it? What kind of RPM? How is the carb currently setup (Air-bleeds, boosters, squirters, power valve(s) or lack of, jets, etc.)? The easy solution would be to just call Patrick at Pro-Systems, have him calibrate/tune it to suit your needs and be done with it.

408, it is set up for a 433 C.I. I was trying to avoid spending big money on this carb right away and was also hoping to be at the track in the next week or two with a somewhat healthy running car. i was planning to send it out to get it tuned for the combo but not until the snow flies.

i do not have all the info on the carb, it was bolted to it when I bought it. I know that is not much help.

The cost to have patrick modify that carb will likely be less than buying a new stock holley. I would just bite the bullet and spend the cash now instead of pulling your hair out. Hell, charge it and get it done. :rockwoot:

Oh, BTW, I am not just shooting my mouth off. I was in your situation that first time I had him do one up for me. I pinched every penny I could find and after I got it back from him, I was SO glad I did. Since then he has done 3 of them for me and several for friends of mine. Hell, my buddies Nova ran consistant 12.30's, and after switching to one of Patricks carbs the car now runs 11.80's and that is what it did right off the trailer with no other adjustments.

damn thats a BIG difference!!! i should call him myself

Well , I'm not trying to sound cheap but I don't have the time to wait to get a carb back for what little bit of this season is left. I will send the carb out as suggested (knowing it is the right thing to do) but I want to make a few shake down passes to see where I stand now. I am going to install new jets in the next few days and see if I can get it close to right. If someone could Pm Patricks number to me so I can contact him when the snow falls to get it set correctly that would be awsome..

Thanks for the advice, I am not totally ingnorant but would just like to enjoy a couple of passes before the close of the season.

FWIW, I was not trying to imply that you were or are ignorant in any way. I hope you do not think that. I just know that I do not know everything there is to know about carbs and when you are trying to make the most of what you have, a carb tune can make or break a setup. Also, if time is your biggest issue, he has gotten my carbs back to me with a 1-2 day turn around time. Good luck with your setup.

Also, this year I switched to a different cam, had some tweaking done to the heads, had him build me a new carb (950cfm), and the car went 134mph right off the trailer (carb untouched) with a N/A 347.

Awesome, I will look into it for sure. I really appreciate you honesty and took what you said as incentive rather than negative :rockwoot:

Patrick's usual build time is about 7-10 days for most carbs.
UPS 1 day each way.
He's had my last two done in a week but they were new "standard" models.
