Have you ever gotten bitten by a dog???

Got bit in the face by a cairyn terrior, evil little dog. I was eating a potato chip or something and it was on my lap. It decided to bite my nose, steal the potato chip I was about to eat and run away leaving me with puncture wounds on my nose.

I currently have a lab and a newfie and the Lab would never hurt a human and the newfie doesn't even know how to growl.

Was attacked by a German Shepherd when I was 17, cut me up pretty good but I was able to pull him off of me.

It is pretty rare that a Shepherd kills anyone though. No one with a brain will argue that pits are more likely to bite, but it is an easy argument to make to say that pits are more likely to kill if they do go nuts. If there were a rash of deaths from Shepherds, or Labs, or poodles, the news would be reporting it too.

i just googled it and came up with a bunch of times it has happened.

I'm not saying it doesnt happen, it is just pretty rare.
The fact that you googled it and got results proves that it gets reported when it happens. The media isn't biased against a breed of dog, they just like to report horrific news. If it is Shepherds killing people, they would be talking about it.

it happens more often than you think. just cause fox 2 dont report it everytime one happens dont mean it doesnt happen. search it once and look at all the attacks and deaths in the last year from just a german shepherd. and these are just the ones that are reported, i was bit and so was my brother and the news paper was not at our house and fox 2 was not. if it were a pitbull that draws attention then for sure they would be knocking at the door. people do have bad experiences with them, i have had them my whole life and have not had a problem. before i got my dog now my gf was unsure of getting a pitbull, now she loves that dog more than anything. guess if you give them a chance they might make you feel different

German Shepherd attacked me when i was young some guy riding by on a spree saved me from getting bitten. My sisters pitbull put a tooth threw my thumb once but that was my fault. Was playing fetch with him and started talking to my friend and still had the ball in my hand and was waving it around lol. He is a big baby though she has a chihuahua and doesn't have any problems with the 2 of them getting along. Guy at work had to put his shepherd down it bit 2 or 3 people before he put it to sleep.

Almost lost an eye to a Black Lab (I was in the 6year old range and stepped on the dog cuz I didn't see it as we were outside at night, then I went to pet him and he lunged for my face)
Bear's mom (German Shepard/Chow) got my finger pretty good. A stray dog ran up when I was walking her in the neighborhood and she was trying to protect me from this other dog and I tried to keep from her killing it and she accidently bit me.
Min Pin - numerous times, just because it was a stupid ass dog that bit everything that moved.

I've had 2 pitbulls, niether of which showed the least bit of aggression. My first pitbull actually got her ass whooped by Bear's mom (Bit, picked up off the ground and flung across the yard) and just took it like a trooper.

Got bit twice, once by a German Shepherd and second time by a lab. All before the age of 12 and was not my fault. I was just running around like a kid with my other buddies in their backyard. The German Shepherd bit me as I was reaching for a tissue from the owner.

Rather have a pit or golden.

I'm sure in some of these cases it a matter of herding rather than biting.
Some dogs are herding animals and "nip" to make you do/or move in a direction they want you to. Basic animal behavior.
They feel they are higher in the "pack" than you are.
A dog that bites down on bone is not the same as one that nips at your legs or butt.

when i was younger had the neighbors dog bite my ankle. It was a SMALL dog and dont know what it was. My brother and I were playing smear the queer with the other kids on the block...(yeah i know..it isnt PC..but sue me) we ran by a house and the dog jumped through the screen window and chased me. Bite me on my ankle/ calf. Little bastard.....my brother was so mad he "punted it"...never saw the dog around after that.

Looks to me like Shepherds are winning this round...

Seems like it. I had a Purebred GSD that was wonderful but he was extremely protective. I'm really wondering how many of these "bites" people say are actual bites.. I've been nipped many times by him from mistaken identity or just playing (His nips would go through you like butter if he got you right). I can tell you from his jaw line if he bites you, you are going to lose some motor skills or have a horrendous scar if he really bites. They are very LOYAL dogs and are favored by law enforcement for a reason, but just like any other animal with the wrong owner they can hurt someone.
