Had To Leave The D Early

Because I got a call saying that the project I've been working on for two years was finally ready to go to the track. Lots of setbacks kept us from going to the track on opening day, but those issues were finally worked out and the last bit of fabrication was done. We inherited a mess of a project from another instructor, so we didn't know if the car would self destruct or not. So very early Wednesday morning I left the D to head back to St. Louis to go racing. I must admit watching the car make it's first pass was a great relief.
We're running a stock block, stock crank LS1 with Procomp heads and a small turbo. The turbo came from an STS kit, but we mounted the turbo up front.
We did find one issue, that was overlooked. The harmonic balancer and the belt tensioner were slightly off, so we threw the belt off. Only got to make the one pass, but we got the car back to the shop and fixed the issue. We're scheduled to go back to the track Wednesday night. I'm hoping to see some full passes. In July, the converter has to come out and a new one will go in. Long story there, but I'll be glad to tell ya when I come back up for the WDC. Anywho, here are some pictures from the day as well as a short in car video. Oh yeah, I took the photos, and even had my GoPro camera along.

Went back to the track last night, and finally made a full pass. We discovered that the converter is slipping like crazy. I'm not looking forward to swapping that out..UGGH
