It's registered as a pistol so you would need a CPL or purchase permit to buy it. You can buy the same gun registered as a rifle, but once it's registered as a pistol you can't undo that and make it a rifle again.

The only advantage is that you can carry it loaded or concealed where you couldn't with a rifle. Makes it a PITA to transfer.
