Gun Crew- Kel Tec p11

I have decided to get a new carry gun. My old one is a full sized 1911 and although it is my favorite gun in the world to shoot and carrying isnt a problem in cooler months I want a pocket rocket for the summer. The one that fits closest to what I need is the Kel Tec p11 so I was wondering if anyone has shot/owns one and what you think about it. Thanks!

Owned one, and hated it. Not because of it's accuracy (or lack of I should say), low mag capacity, poor erogonomics, or shitty finish. It's because of it's AWFUL trigger. Have you shot one? Have you felt how God awful it's heavy ass DA trigger is? Granted it's easy to carry at it's size, and I have many a times. But I never will again.

Keltecs are often referred to as 50/50 guns. 50% of the time you get a good one. 50% of the time you don't. If my life ever depends on it, I don't want the chance like that. Even though my FTE and FTF were few and far between with the one I had, it still wasn't reliable enough for carry.

Get a Glock 26 or a Springfield XD sub compact. You can back the glock up with an extra 17 round or 33 round mag, and the XD up with a 16 round mag. Both are easy to conceal IWB, and I've even pocket carried both with a 10 round mag.

I'll glady give up a small amount of size for quality, repeatability, and performance.

owned one and had no problems with it. The trigger problems justin is talking about is an easy and cheap fix. They have all kinds of different upgrades you can do to the gun. I purchased a few and the gun was great to carry.

I shot my friends kel tec. I didnt like it. You also have to watch you hand placement. The slide will bite you real easy. I love my glock 26.

same here. we must have had a good one.

Not to hijack i was checking out the Walther PPS for a carry gun, any opinions on it.
Well, if it's your carry gun, it means your life might depend on it's reliability. For that... it's Glock, XD, or M&P (IMHO)... or a wheel gun if you're OK with smaller capacity....

LOL... the one that had the trigger fall off while we were shooting it

lol Yep. That was an aftermarket trigger though. An attempt at fixing the lousy trigger as I mentioned before. I put it back to stock before I sold it.

Agreed. M&P's are good carry guns also.

X2

I have a Glock 27, and love it, easy to conceal, 10 round mag, .40 cal

Have you tried to carry a bobtailed commander or an officer sized 1911? I personally think that its about the best carry gun.
Kel tec p11 is a ok gun, my dads hasn't had a problem, but he doesn't carry it either.
springfield xd.....well millions of people love them, me, I bought one, shot it 3 times, carried it once, and well now it hasn't come out of the safe again....
ruger lcp is a great gun, the only issue i've ever had was after about a 100 rounds the magazine catch got dirty enough that it didn't latch the mag in place. I can't believe how accurate that I am with one, they are perfect for bike rides, but I wouldn't have one as my only carry gun.

I have a Kahr PM9, which is somewhere between the KelTec and the G26/7 in terms of size. After the 200 round break-in period, I have had zero issues with it. It shoots very well and had a great DAO trigger. If you're looking for a sub-sub-compact, give the Kahr line a try. They make them in 9mm, .40, and .45 in plastic (PMx) and steel (MKx) frames.

I agree, cause I bought this gun...and as far as accuracy?...well ask the CPL instructors in Monroe on how accurate the gun is...lol...they told me to save my ammo cause I obviously know what I'm doing...this was only the second time firing this gun....and if you want something to conceal...why would you want a 14+ round clip?...you only need one shot...the other shots are useless cause would you really know where those bullets are going? maybe a innocent person looking at you two playing shoot-em-up?....lol
