Gribraltor Swapmeet this weekend

seemed a lot bigger and more stuff when they had it at the fairgrounds...

Been doing these for about twenty years, knew the previous owner of the swapmeet and the current owner pretty well, Fairgrounds had 4 buildings in the start then dropped to 3 then 2 becaise of other things they had going on tehre and it was cheaper to rent, there is no place around now large like that for a reasonable price. Since the cost to rent the fairgrounds were cheaper the spots were cheaper which brought out more vendors (I would normally get 2-3 spots they were like 40.00 and bring more stuff now I only get one since they are 75.00), plus at that time the economy was more stable.

ebay has pretty much killed smaller swap meets, The larger ones Hershey, ford nationals etc are still huge but the smaller ones are getting killed,

Think you are going to see that change, couple reasons. The cost to list stuff is getting ridiculous for e-bay and it’s so easy because of paypal standing behind customers 100% to get burned and paypal fees, and they want to start issuing 1099 for what you sell so it can be taxed and we all know the issues with craigslist. I think people are going to start to go back to swapmeets a little more. Just my opinion, I know I would much rather sell at a swapmeet and I have sold a ton on e-bay and I dont think I have sold anything on there in like 2 years.

fees are 10% if you sell enough
paypal doesnt always side with customer Ive had 3 claims against me and I won all 3
1099K only happens if you do 200 transactions and 20K (i did 19x each of the last 2 years) this has been rule for last 3 years when the snuck the change through on the housing reform bill
