I am converting to a roller cam on my 87 GN motor and I am curious what roller cam and what size roller cam do you guys normally run for a street/strip car.
Details on the engine, bored .020 over, stock iron heads ported/polished, port matched intake, te45a turbo, fmic, forged pistons, etc... if you need more info let me know.

I don't have a roller but I did go from a 200/200 to a 218/224. If i was going to put in a roller now I would probably get 206/206 for a mild street cam. it would keep the torgue down low, spool faster and lower my idle. My idle now is a little over a 1k but it's also a flat tappet. Not much help for you I guess.

206 sounds better to me. check with brian his cam is fairly liveable.
Yeah, Brian said the 212 so I don't know. The 206 or the 212 would both probably work just fine. I have to talk to you about some other things too. Are you at your shop? I called earlier and they said you were gone.

I had a 206/206 roller in my GN. The idle was relatively stock, but I did lose a little low end. It didn't help having a bigger turbo either. A lot of guys have good luck with a 200/200.

If you are putting in a roller, make sure you get your front cover machined properly for the bearing, and that you get the endplay on the cam set right too.

I had a 212/212 cam in my car. It had a 72 turbo on it. I drove it on the street alittle. It was not to bad. Your turbo is a little smaller but still should work fine.
