Ok so I got a 93 Dodge Grand Caravan LE with a 3.3. AWD too if that even matters. So awhile ago the electric fan just stopped working. So the other day I got around to try figuring it out. I first replaced the fuse. No luck. Next I dissconnected the fan, wired it to the battery and what not to test if the fan itself was burnt out. I tried everything and couldnt that fan to budge. So I figured the fan must be burnt out. So I got my new fan today, put it in, plugged it in and still nothing. Too say the least I am pissed. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any other modules or relays running this fan? I checked a repair manual and couldnt find anything, called some shops and they said go to the dealership. Please help!

I'd start with checking to the manual to see if anything else runs off that fuse and if that works. Next, I'd attempt to hook it straight to the battery again. It's gotta work, if not the fan they sold you is defective. There is probably a relay somewhere in there. Check the ground for a good connection. When it's fully installed make sure the coolant temp sensor is working properly. If that isnt working it won't tell the fan to turn on.

The new fan is all installed. The fuse that the fan runs off also controls the AC and heat. I can hear the AC kick on, or try to, but no cold air kicks out. The AC was one thing I tried to use to test the fan. The heat works great and a couple times is the only thing that kept the van from dying forever. So how would I go about checking the coolant temp sensor?

I don't know exactly what kind of sensor it is but you should check for physical damage or maybe a resistance check?

if you unplug the temp sensor the fan should kick on. If not one or two things could be wrong.. the relay or the Air conditioning switch. I jumped my two prong switch on my new yorker with a wire to get mine working again until i find time to fix it right :)

check the fuseable links. They have a bad habit of burning out and the fan quits working. they are located on the drivers side strut tower near the relay block. Just untape the wiring comming out of the relay block and you will see them.
