Got to love Detroit

The unions screwed the big three by negotiating till death pensions and health benefits and then not dying. Nobody thought in 1960 there would be alll these active 85 plus people. Shit I'm 35 and have 4 active grandparents, 3 from the union.

Well I would love to know what CEO that you know of that has had an increase in pay in the last year. I know of a couple that are customer's of mine who have done nothing but bitch about the fact that thier salaries have fallen since the economy has gone bad. Plus my uncle who's the president of Lear seating corporation aslo has commented on how his pay was effected by the economy and not the better....

So again Kurt go ahead and copy and paste another paragraph from one of your Democratic web boards that isn't true.....

I'm sorry but I have to agree to a point.....some CEO's are way overpaid...Robert Nardelli is one I can think of....it's a old boys club. If they preform they deserve some serious money if not they don't, problem is many get PAID either way.

CEO pay is set by the board what to guess who's friends are on the board???? Damn I need to get into that club.

I'm not saying that thier not overpaid at all....But I know from atleast the CEO's and stuff I talk to thier pay is effected by this economy as well....I'm sure alot of them are overpaid to begin with but also you have to look at the higher up people that got thier by working hard...Which alot of the times is how they get thier.

As far as stock options and bonuses can't you only get paid if you hit your quota?? Or your stocks go up?? Which if stock goes up so must the business...At least thats how my bonus programs at work have always been...

CEO pay is small potatoes in comparison to the big problem..
The problem is the pensions and health benefits they are paying out to people that are no longer working
The pay per hour for a union worker is more yes, but its really no that much worse compared to Toyota, Nissan and Honda
They are getting consessions on this which is helping
They are moving in the right direction it is just going slowly
Just my.02

As soon as some of you whiners have the skills to run a $10 billion company you can feel free to take a low salary and stay in the moral "right."

You can find exceptions and poor CEO's anywhere (and not only in automotive), but in general, it takes a very dedicated individual to successfully run a large company. So they can pay themselves copious amounts of cash and keep a company (and 40,000 jobs) up and running, or they can take smaller salaries and lose the drive, shut down the company, and put 40,000 people on the street. You decide.

It's awfully easy to blame the wealthy CEO's for your problems. It's also easy to blame the unions and retirees. The truth is somewhere in between, and all of these are factors.

Oh, and Toyota is building a large test and engineering facility in Fowlerville. Who says they're not coming to MI?

No, it was only announced about 18 months ago. And they've closed down the road a friend of mine grew up on in preparations.

But it's more fun to point fingers and change nothing. At least Corp executives are accountable unlike politicians
