Got The Car Tuned On E85

I think most people are afraid of things they do not know about, while yes its seems there is a band wagon starting with this fuel but those who are using it seem to be educated in the arena of the fuel. That or have a tuner who has played with the stuff enough to be comfortable. A lot of people run race gas when they could run Meth, make way more power and be way more consistent but then it all comes down to if they are willing move outside there comfortzone and learn a whole new tune-up on there car cuz of the fuel change. Most are not willing to due that and stick with the its not broke don't fix it.

I feel like people are taking my posts the wrong way. I never denied that e85 is a good fuel. My major issue with it is when it comes from the pump. As mentioned here a few people said that Meijer brand is rather consistent but I wouldn't be willing to test it every time I need to fuel up. Additionally it was brought up that in order to combat the variance in ethanol percentage a richer tune could be used. If you do this, and I agree that it would work, I would think your leaving potential power on the table vs. tuning for a the optimal AFR with consistent ethanol content.

Can you let us know when you get some real data on bad fuel?

I never brought up "bad fuel" I was speaking to ethanol seasonal and station to station ethanol variance.

Yea, I am sure that 800+ horsepower daily driver 4 bangers are super reliable until you start running E85 - then all bets are off!

My point wasn't about daily drivers or reliability. I was making a point about e85 as an alternative to racing fuel.

Where I have seen the biggest change in opinion with E85 is with the actual racers. Guys who really discounted it 5 years ago but then once started using it in real world applications discovered it's real potential. The boosted V8 guys love it, and that's at the track. The fact that you can drive around all day on the street for cheap is icing on the cake.

A final bonus for me is the cleanliness. It's a poo poo issue for us performance guys but still, I've never been a fan of burning that leaded stuff on the street. I've gone through barrels of C16 at the track but daily driving the stuff never settled with me. Burning the corn almost makes me feel like a nutty crunchy hippie compared to that! Hey, I've looking for ever excuse I can find. LOL

What fuel lines are you running now? I have a -8 feed , Y to each rail, and -6 Y to -6 return and it works fine.

Yes. Fuel pump, injectors, and a tune. Youll make more power actually and it will cost less to drive it.
I think the fuel lines are stock. I have never changed them and I dont think Lidios changed them as far as I know. He said he just tuned another 2v with a kenne bell and it turned out great. This will be something Ill do over winter though. I like everthing I've read on it so far. I dont make it to the track much just cruising around mostly an thats whats selling me on e85.

Just make sure that Lidio makes the tune rich. There is good data on the Yellowbullet that shows a guy made more power with a 10.5 AFR vs. an 11.5 AFR. I use 10.0 and it loves it.

I have a breather canister that requires me to empty it every once in awhile....water comes out.

I'm confused at this part? What is the canister connected to?

Depending on how much power you plan on making you may not need to touch them. Whats your whp goal?

I dont really have a whp goal but the car makes 560 something to the tire right now. I would be really happy to see over 600. Think they'll need to be changed?

If your FPDC and IDC are in the 70-75% now then you should be fine swapping to E-85. As stated before, you need about 30% more capacity in your fuel system.
