Goodbye old friend

It's the end of an era. I've owned the car since I was 16. It's the reason there's a 70 in my screen name on every forum. It was a father/son project when I was in high school. After spinning a few bearings at Watkins Glen in 2003 I decided to do the LS swap and was one of the first in the country. It was featured in two magazines. But it got to the point where I hadn't driven it in 2 years other than back and forth to Tony's house for winter storage. I bought the Z06 for a street/track car and didn't want to spend the money on it that it would have taken to really finish the car off so I put it on eBay last week. I got what I wanted for it and the buyer came up from Ohio today to pick it up. Goodbye old friend. We had lots of fun over the last 20 years.

Man, just looking at that 2nd photo, i'm getting choked up. I can definitely relate when I had to let go of my old Camaro. It was definitely a bittersweet moment.

Everyone needs change. Better that someone else enjoys it. Start a new project with your kids, so they can enjoy one!

I'm not a huge vette fan, but my favorite years are the 68-72's. I liked your car a lot. I'm in the same boat, I haven't driven my coronet more than 50 miles in 2 years. But I've had it since I was 17. (35 now)

:( Hope it will be in good hands. I really enjoyed checking it out before Woodward a few years back.

When I sold my Camaro and watched it drive away, it felt like I saw it's entire life (with me) flash before me. Definitely an odd and bittersweet feeling. At least you still have a toy, though. I still have yet to replace mine.

It was a surreal feeling for sure James. The new owner is a Corvette dealer/restorer so he already told me that it will be getting the full treatment including paint and body work, repairing the windshield posts and header, and putting the heat and a/c back in it. He said he has 5 cars in various states of restoration right now so this one won't be touched for a few months at least.
