Gonna buy 60# injectors... is flow matching worth it?

So it's time for 60# injectors, and I was just wondering if paying extra for flow matching is worth it... apparently the standard deviance is +/- 6%... how much does it matter?
 
Huh ? I think the deviation for OE applications is like +- 2% for most stuff. Most companies flow match them into sets however.

It shouldn't be but to be honest I have gotten a few lazy injectors over the years so having them checked if it only add 10-15$ to the price is good insurance.


so additional flow matching isn't needed is what you're saying?

Price is $100 more for flow matching, which kind of made me go :eek5:
 
thats rediculous. Are you planning on running these on a Ford PCM ? If so you might want to rethink that. These injectors and Factory ford pcms do not get along so well. I ask becuase your name is VT maruader.

03 ford EEC-V yes. As I understand it, I'd need to run them like I do my 42s and trick the EEC into thinking they are something else and my displacement is different etc. I'm sure it'll be a pain in the ass, gotta say the one thing I hate about my car is the EEC :pissed:
 
I have seen some issues with the driver being a bit lazy and having some low speed fueling consistency issues. Could just be the older 4v motors the early eec5 stuff.


Zero issues here running 60#ers with a Mach Puter......
 
why not set the injector slope correctly for the injectors ?

Just buy them and plug 'em in.

When I talked to CPR they said matching injectors is foolish since they are already matched form the factory.

Got a part # for those ? Curios to see the electrical specifications on them.

Dynamic Flow Rate 2.5ms PW @ 100Hz (GAS): 20.2mg/pulse
Coil Resistance: 12 Ohms (This high-impedance injector will work with all factory ECM/PCM injector drivers)
Gain: 0.11ms/mg
Offset: 0.055ms
Turn on time @ 14VDC: 1.14ms
Turn off time: 0.85ms @ 600KPa
Factory Tollerance: +/-6 %
Spray Pattern: Cone (4-Hole)
Connector: Minitimer (Bosch EV1)

Those were the impedence ranges I was talking about. Had a hell of a time with a 98 cobra running a stock pcm and 60pph injectors. The low speed fueling would get messy at times. I wonder if they upgraded the drives in the later pcms to better handle the loads of the newer injectors.

I don't know the specifics but I do know that my 03 EEC is very very different to tune than the older ones
 
The later EEC v systems use a much different strategy and I know they made some change in the electronics. They did switch to a more pencil style injector which should be in the 12-14 ohm range. I know the older mod motor box have struggled with those injectors. I have talked to a few other tunners and they have all reported on teh older cars the same issues I have had with those lower impednce injectors.

As for the later EEC V units Like I said I know they changed some things around so the may have fixed the driver stability issues. Let me know how it turns out.

the eec IV and early eec v cars all had 16-18 ohm high impedence injectors. These newer Pico style injectors like the motorsport 60pph piece being discussed here are 12-14 ohms. Not a true low z but it seems like the pre 2000 eec v system and the earlier eec Iv systems do struggle to run these.

I don't think anything Ford has since 89 had low impedance drivers. If you're trying to run low impedance injectors with a stock EEC, you are going to have lazy injectors and slow response times. Saturated drivers don't have the hump/current to run a low impedance injector. The ones he posted ar 12-14 ohm which is considered a high impedance injector.
