Going Back To School....Again

This time I'll be attending Lawrence Technical University. Class starts about a week after the Dream Cruise. Why the heck am I doing this again? Just about everything that interests me job wise wants a BS degree in either Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. So, it seems that I've got a few more years of schooling ahead of me.
I'll be moving to the Southfield area for my first semester, who knows where I'll end up after that. I'll make the big move in either at the end of June or the end of July. Yes, I'm as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, but I think I'll do well.
Oh any math majors around? :D
 
Good for you...plus, you already know a bunch of people around here, and many of them are engineers, as well.
 
Lawrence Tech is where I went in the 70's...Quite a change from then until now, but still a great school...

Exactly, the transition should be much easier than moving to a completely strange area.
 
Don't ask me about math. I had so much "fun" with Diff EQ that I took it twice and that was more than 15 years ago. A friend of mine is working on his Masters at Larry Tech right now and said that the one math class that he had to take just about killed him. But don't worry... it's probably not so bad. ;)
 
Wow. We're in the same boat, and I will be doing the exact same! I haven't figured out my start date yet. I just graduated in August. I can't work and go to school full time again though. Half time will have to work.
 
The transition will be better there than when I was in Florida, that's for sure. I'll be in the D the week of June 20th for orientation and placement testing. My major is mechanical engineering with an emphasis on automotive. Imagine that...LOL
 
The math isn't bad. just get help immediately if you have any issues. For the most part the math is easy....just be sure to truly learn integration (Calc II). Without actually knowing it (not just getting thru the class), you will have trouble in several other core classes. Other than that its pretty easy. I personally did not have issues with math (also have a math major), but watched several struggle. Good luck to you.

One question though.....Why automotive? don't pick automotive because you like or enjoy cars...its not worth it..LOL
 
YouTube has a lot of great math teaching / explanation / example videos. That was a major resource for me while going to U of M.

Congrats though!

Yeah I remember when I got my Masters in Mechanical Engineering, there was 1 math class that was called Math Analysis for Engineers. It was basically ALL of the math classes that we took as undergrad's rolled into one. That class was TOUGH and there were 3 of us(who got our undergrads together) in it working through homework every night. That was the ONLY class that I struggled with. I actually enjoyed math while I was an undergrad and pondered getting a math minor at the time.

That is my BS degree. ME with an automotive specialty.
 
Great school. Hard to go wrong. My son just finished his Electrical Engineering degree last month. They have been banging down the door.

I'm kicking myself for selling my math book back when I graduated a year ago. I found out today that I've got placement testing in exactly one week. Ughh. I plan on getting help if I even think I'm struggling with a class. I don't like feeling lost.
Yes, I picked my major because I love cars. I figure if I'm doing something I love, I'm not working. :)
 
I graduated from LTU three years ago with an Engineering Technology Degree...I wish I would have done Mechanical Engineering but at the time alot of my credits transfered and I got it in two years...take Dr. Abro for your math classes if you can...i took all of mine with him...he is an awesome teacher and is one of those teachers that's doesn't want to see you fail...I definitely enjoyed my time up their
