GM Rust Warranty - Question anyone know?

yesterday I noticed some rust bubbling up on my trunk lid of my 2007 Saturn Aura & Since I need to take it in to have the Air Damn replaced (I saved the letter they sent that they would replace if it breaks, because they changed it's design), will they fix this surface rust now? or does it have to "Rust-through" 1st?

The GM Warranty FAQ States.
"Chevrolet vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All body and sheet metal components are warranted against rust-through corrosion for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first; see dealer for details). Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is neither necessary nor required under the Sheet Metal Coverage. Chevrolet makes no recommendations concerning the usefulness or value of such products. Application of after-manufacture rustproofing products may create an environment that reduces the corrosion resistance built into your vehicle. Repairs to correct damage caused by such applications are not covered under your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. See your Chevrolet dealer for terms of this limited warranty. "
 
Im sure surface rust is 3yr/36,000 miles, they should fix it. Rust-through is 5yr/100,000 I believe.
 
That usually happens when the car above them leaks brake fluid on the cars below on the car carrier. Guaranteed to peel the paint in a year or two.

I have that going on with my Buick on the hood. GM dealer says they will fix it when a hole is started. I have four spots of surface rust. Pissed me off.
 
Yes surface rust is covered for 3/36 and rust THRU is covered 6/100000
but after 3/36 it must become rust thru perforation

At the dealer I used to work at (was not GM) you were SOL if there was surface rust, even if you had 30 miles on the car. They would not do anything unless it was through the metal.
 
We do all the body work for the local gm dealer in town and we have had a few malibus in that rust around the chrome trim on the deck lid that we have fixed under warranty and it was just barely surface rust
