gm and and ford unite, wtf

Don't think too deeply about it. From what I've heard, it was an alliance in order to increase buying power for raw materials to gain even greater economies of scale. It's not the first time that we've done a JV. Has anyone driven one of the new FWD 6-speed trannies that were jointly developed?

Quite being such a drama queen.

There's talent on both sides of the fence,

Ford and GM are the last of the great automotive empire the the US enjoyed for the last 100 years.

The competition is no longer in the backyard. It's global With market share giong away so fast, something needs to get done. I just hope Ford's new CEO can turn the industry around like he did for boeing.

A few years ago, Airbus was tied with Boeing for #1. Since old Alan came to the table, things turned aound in 10 years. (according to aviation weekly the third quarter orders are Boeing with 409 firm orders for planes to just 117 for Airbus)

That my friends is kicking ASS!

(by the way, during that time period boeing aquired the only other US manufacturer of commercial aviation planes Mcdonald-Douglas)
