German Engineering Invading Michigan!

A few days ago we were able to attend our first cars and coffee event at the new M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Mi. We felt, that since the venue is new, along with it being our first time, that it was only fitting to take our newest addition to our Development fleet to the event.

Not even 24 hours in our possession we took our new Focus RS out to enjoy this great event. While there Six Speed photography (https://www.facebook.com/sixspeedphotography/) took some amazing shots of the RS. So a big shout out to the great work there.

They look sweet but net at 36k id personally rather buy a mustang gt with with the performance group for 36k. Id like to see more pictures though.

With the death of the Evo I was glad to see something to compete with the STI. Personally I think the Evo died in 2005 anyhow, but that's another topic.

I totally agree with you! The Evo VIII was the last real competitor for the STI. After that it was all cosmetic. The Evo X had a chance to be a true rally racer, but FAILED. Ironically, I think the STI is firmly in last place when compared to the Focus RS and the new Mercedes Benz A45! There is finally some turmoil in the AWD streetfighter category!

It is a completely different category. Honestly, if you put both on a track the S550 would have its hands full. The car is really poised on the road. Even "spirited" driving gives you an odd level of confidence that you should not be afforded when pushing a car on the street.

I forgot 2006 was the IX with MIVEC, so I'll say it died in 2006. I had a 2005 that I absolutely loved. I also agree the STI is firmly in last place. While the chassis upgrades are great on the latest version, the engine needs to be replaced. It's underpowered for what it is and has more then its share of issues. The A45 is just a different thing. I feel like it costs too much to get too many cross shoppers between the STI and RS, but I totally get all the comparisons being done.

I really wish GM would make something to compete. I'd love to daily drive something AWD and turbo and keep the SS for the weekends. Or maybe at that point ditch the SS for a Camaro. I'd love to have a 1LE in my garage.
