Gearing

Oh ok. I have a 68 mustang 289 with a C4 3 speed trans swap in an 86 ranger,it is a floor shifter. it says cruise-o-matic on it. it moves into low but it doesn't engage, but sometimes it does but recently it hasn't. And now its starting to get worse, when i pull it out of park, i have to rip the shifter pretty much and slam it into drive to engage drive, but park, neutral, and reverse is fine.
 
Update: Now its giving me trouble going into any gear. Last night i put it into park but was still in reverse. Need suggestions ASAP please before it gets worse.
 
Really really need help!!! Wont go into park and hard time going into drive!!! where is the shifter linkage, under the shifter? do i gotta take the shifter out?
need replys asap!
 
the shifter linkage connects the shifter to the trans, I would look under the truck, drivers side of the trans and see if there is anything there touching, or binding up the linkage
