I've tried to search on here and I can't find it. I know someone heats there garage with a 10 gallon hot water heater. I'm considering doing this and I'm hoping to get some questions answered before I try to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks for any help guys

like using it for a boiler and having a small hydronic system with radiation??

what are you asking????

Thanks guys.

I was considering a hydronic type system. I'm just not sure how efficient they are compared to just installing a gas furnace. I was told that they are more efficient due to the fact that you dont lose 100% of the thermal energy in the hot water. So I was considering using a 10 gallon electric hot water heater and something similar to this.

My garage is currently only 420 sq. ft. Im hoping to extend the back of the garage depending on the city and the easment. I know I can go up to 520 sq. ft but I would like it to be 620 sq.ft. I believe that unit should be plenty to heat the garage up to about 800 sq.ft. But, I dont have any experience with this stuff and I'm trying to make a decision on what type of heating will be most efficient.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of systems and what it actually costs to heat their garage?

I have a 30 X 48 barn with radiant floor heat. I keep it at 55 out there all winter long. It's wicked good. System basically consists of a gas-fired tankless HWH, a pump, and 1400' of pex tubing. The impact on my gas bill is tough to define, because I am heating my house and barn and my bill is averaged to the same amount every month. When I first installed it, I didn't have things adjusted right, and was missing the insulation on one wall. My gas usage was BIG. Once I finished the insulation and dialed things in, my gas usage dropped literally to within $10 of where it was before.

One problem for you is that I put all the tubing in the floor when I poured the concrete. No good way to retrofit an exisiting garage. No idea if the results would be anywhere near as good with baseboard radiators.

Your experience will vary...
