PS3 or Wii?? My wife wants to get the little guy something for Xmas and wants a Wii figuring he will be jumping around rather than sitting there like a turd. I want a PS3 because we already have a PS2 and a shitload of games. We mainly play driving games (car racing, monster jam, motocross stuff) if that matters. I know the X box is a bad bitch too, but that's really not in the running here.

Thanks for any help!!!

You may really want to consider the Xbox 360 with Kinect.. Unlike the other two systems it scans your body and you don't have to hold anything. I just set one up for my dad last week and he loves the thing. His neighbors kids come over and play with it. It's really funny because every game you play it takes a few pictures of you and shows them at the end, fucking hilarious. We paid $299 for the 4GB Xbox with the Kinect and a $40 game gift certificate. It's the new version with Wifi built in. Just curious, not to start a fan boy argument, but why would it not be in the running? It's light years ahead of the Wii.

Can yo ass read??

If you use a Kinect you will think different. :D

The coolest thing with Kinect is if your playing 2 player and someone gets tired they can sit down and someone else can stand up and take their place. It scans them in about 1 second and the game doesnt stop the whole time.

Almost 7. So I can't play PS2 games if I went and bought a PS3 today?? That sucks balls and changes everything!!

the kids gonna get bored of the Wii quickly.... videogames are meant to be fun and relaxing.. and after he realizes that he has to jump and stuff he'll get bored... ps3 doesnt have many if any kiddy games but does have quite a few racing games.... and if hes already acclimated to it then ps3 would be a shoe in

I thought we could still play the PS2 games on a PS3?? That's kinda my only argument with the wife.
I don't know much about any of them, I just remember any debates here being between the X box and PS3. Like the Wii wasn't even there. So does this kinect work like the Wii but you don't need a controller because it scans you?? Because that's pretty fucking cool!!!

Yes. It looks like a center piece of a surround sound system you put in front of your TV or on top of it. It looks like it has 2 or 3 cameras, I know one of them reads in negative or infared. There is literally nothing you have to hold. You can navigate through the xbox menu by pointing to stuff with your hand. It scans your body and automatically figures out the key points. (Head, hands, feet). You can do a calibration test and it shows you in negative and has dots on all your key points, its really fucking wierd how it knows that.

It's smart enough to know how far away you are too. While your playing if you move out of we'll say your "playing zone". As in if you back up too much it will tell you to scoot forward, and on the screen it shows like a meter of how far back you are. As you scoot closer it shows it on the screen. It can tell depth along with any other angle. If I held perfectly still and just moved my foot, the guy on the screen would be still but his foot would move, its cool as hell. The Kinect games are also $10-$15 cheaper than regular Xbox games, they ranged from $44.99-$49.99 at the stores I was at.

That was the old xbox. I've left my 360 Elite on for literally 2 weeks with no problems. In 1-2 years I think its frozen on a game once or twice, but that could of been from a jenky disc. I noticed the new units are much quiter than the old ones too.

hey man xbox with kinnect is the only option like 89vette said the only version of ps3 that was backwards compatible was the first gen 80 gig,ive never known anyone that didnt regret buying a wii they're fun for the first couple months but the novelty will wear off, i have an xbox and its by far the best option it has games for every age group. also if your into racing games the kinnect will let you race like your actually driveing but you dont need a steering wheel its very slick

I have all of the systems. I think I will have to get Kinect! That looks wicked.

And yeah, Wii gets boring....

what about PS3 with the move? its not controller free but you still get to jump around wii style. again another option if the xbox/kinect pkg is not in the cards with the wife
