Gaming System

Well my 14 yr old has finally decided that he wants a gaming system. Has a older WI system that collects dust. I think its because the boys from school and baseball play. This will be mostly all sports games that he will be playing. Is PS5 the real go to?? Any other options / accessories to look for?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really don't want to pay those prices.... SMH LOL

Whatever his group is playing on is what he will want so he can play against them. If you're buying one for him, let him pick. They sure are expensive, but game prices have not really gone up much if at all since the 90s.

Yes, there were $60 SNES games lol.

As Golden said, let him pick the system. A bunch of games are cross platform compatible but it's not as good as playing on the same system. Example being a friend of mine is on PS4 while I'm on Xbox. We can play the same game, but we've got to use "game chat" instead of a "party chat" which gets sorta glitchy and laggy at times. Games are expensive, the online network access adds up (Xbox live/PlayStation network) but I would say buy as much as you can afford for the system as they have various internal memory sizes and such. I know Xbox is externally expandable but I can't say for sure about PlayStation. Xbox offers a "gamepass" membership which allows him to try games within the library of what is available at that time to see if he would like the game before buying it. Again, I can't speak for PlayStation as I don't have one. Also, keep in mind that controllers and headsets aren't cheap either. The gaming world is a "Buy once, Cry once" sorta thing. You'll spend a dollar trying to save a dime.

Best baseball game ever is the original RBI baseball on the Ninetendo. It as so elegant in it's block graphics and 8 bit sound. Great gameplay though. Anyone else remember still throwing 97 mph in the 9th inning with Nolan Ryan? That game rocked.

Yep. I used to wreck people at that game.

The wife ended up getting the Xbox system as she was worried they wouldn't have any left here soon. She watched alot of units being sold thru her cart. I am hoping that was the right decision... lol

Thanks guys
