Proper funeral attire does not include pants sagged below your ass cheeks with your boxers exposed. It is not proper to wear a "gangsta" hoodie with the hood up while in a funeral home, especially durring the service. Sweatpants might be the standard attire in your life but is not proper at a funeral. Tattoos are not a problem but there is no need to roll up the sleeves on your long sleeve shirt to show your arm sleeve tattoos , at the same time it is not proper to have the top 5 buttons of the same long sleeve shirt unbuttoned to show your neck/collar bone/chest tattoo.

I don't wear a full suit but I can't believe what some people think is acceptable.

I agree with you. However, sometimes you have to look past it and appreciate them coming. Then again, it's easier to look past their attire if they cannot afford the proper clothing, compared to showing off tattoos.

I'm sure a pair of clean jeans with a belt and a clean "normal" shirt is in there closet. If not, they fail in life. I don't expect any of them had any financial troubles as the clothes they were wearing were fairly new/costly. It was more that the choice of attire was shocking. They have either never paid attention while growing up or don't care to show any respect for the family.

True. A couple people showed up at my Grandmothers funeral a couple months ago with an unsavory appearance. It pissed me off at the time but I was able to ignore it.

I would hope everyone in this club would know how to dress for a funeral.

FYI

Every man should own a black suit & white dress shirt.

Every young lady should own at least one modest black dress.

If I am going to be there all day I suit up.
If it is a 10 min stop in jeans and a nice shirt,
I use to do black pants and a nice shirt,
A few times I had to show up in my work uniform because I had to go to work after I left.

It also depends on who just passed, I mean if you went to a biker one they feel they are paying respect by wearing there uniform or gear

I agree you should not look like your going to rob a gas station after you leave.

True, sometimes it depends on the family. One time I went to a funeral for a 32 yr old that had been sick and before he passed he said that he did not want anyone to wear a "monkey suit" at his funeral . So we wore clean, proper fitting clothing.
I forgot to mention that at this other funeral I was at there was also someone wearing a do-rag (the kind that is tight fitting made from nylons).

Some people just don't get it. Condolences to Braxx if you recently lost someone close to you.

Thank you, I had 3 funerals in less than 2 weeks.
Possible drug OD, suicide and cancer. So two of them were senseless and some day the 3rd will be cured (I hope)

I agree with you 100%!
Although I would also think it depends on the crowd, right?
example, if the person who the funeral is for is a saggy pants, ass cheek showing with tattoos, then they probably hang with that type of person, so the attire would be "normal".
If the person is me, a white guy from the burbs, then the crowd should be like that of the "Revenge of the Nerds"...

Either way, it is common sense, and is fairly hard to find that anymore.

I'm going to a wake this Thursday, I'm leaving from work so I'll be in a pair of dress slacks/shirt. I might throw a tie on. If it's family, I wear a suit.

I've regrettably admit to going to family funerals where a certain side of the "Tree" are appropriately attired but constantly go out to the parking lot to drink/weed/tailgate..yes that's right, TAILGATE in the funeral parlor lot.

Where's Foxworthy when you need him? "You might be a redneck"......

I noticed "tailgating" at 2 funerals I went to in the last year. I was dressed better than some of the family there. Quite strange.

I have the worst funeral story...
my boss went to a family funeral down south and the elder man in the family provided:
(1) limo
(2) prostitutes
for people who needed cheering up! Old school pimp.

Time's change like everything else. The funeral I went to last week. It was a friends brother. He was 46. He was wearing a tee shirt and with some type of shirt over it and jeans In the casket.
