fuel injection help!

I have a 1984 crown victoria that had the cfi fuel injection on it. It was goin bad so I converted it to a carb and in the process got rid of a lot of wires and sensors. I can't get the daily reliability I want and am thinking about going to a real fuelie system of a late 80s 5.0. Do I only need a computer and injector harness or would I need to have all the sensors for it to work? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
You'll need an o2, a map, a cts, a tps, and possibly a maf depending on what year electronics you use. Don't forget you'll need both a in-tank pump and a return fuel line too.

You might as well just find a donor car to get everything from that way you won't miss anything.

Its really not a big deal if you're just going with all oem parts.

I would go on craigslist and find a Fuel Injected Crown Vic or Grand Marquis for cheep and make your car Fuel Injected. If you try to use mustang parts to do this conversion It will be a headache !
 
That's the problem. I'm on a budget that's just tight enough that I can't buy another car. I guess my next option is probably to look through a junkyard.
 
IIRC the crown vic did not get maf til the early 1990's models like 90-92. If my memory of this is correct, these and towncars were Speed density ECU's.

correct, they had the air filter box on the drivers side, above the exhaust manifold near the master cylinder
