Fuel Cell & Battery Box

I think you missed my point, whats the point of a cut off if its hidden? Safety crew doesnt find it when the car crashes etc. etc. etc. I guess to each their own.

Once again im talking about a street car same as purplehaze, everyone else is reffering to track cars.

My car always has been a street/strip car and I know plenty more street cars with them....

If your car is a street only car then why move the battery..Street racing is against the law!! :icon_mrgr

I could care less about "street cars" having them. I only have a re-located battery because of my fenderwells being removed. I may hide a cut off when I re-do my electrical ths winter but who knows, I'd rather just not be a tool bag and shut off power to the vehicle myself from inside the cab if theres a problem.

I've also seen many a morons fuck with cut offs at car shows and out on the street sometimes, maybe that's why I am afraid of one.

Wait so people who run cutoff switches are tool bags now??Interesting... Good luck cutting that power off yourself if you get knocked out in a impact/crash LOL!!!!

Not trying to knock you, I just find this really funny!!!

And how does said toolbag turn power off when I crash and cant when the battery is under the hood?

Well If you had a car fast enough; for it to be track legal you would have the battery cut off switch mounted on the back of the car in plain view with a label signifing on and off ...

Only a TOOLBAG would put a battery cut off switch in the cab.. Fuck tech would prob laugh at you for that

I guess you couldnt turn the ignition/fuel pump of yourself huh... My fuel pump ignition and lights are all on manual switches and not in anyway connected to the key on the column. I think thats safe, turn it all off NOW with 1 motion and still have steering control. :dontknow:

Whatever, put what you want on your car.

Oh and it takes track crews forever to get to crashed cars, even if there is a cut off. If the crash is that bad the cut off will be useless anyway and broken/not visible. I can only see a reason for a cut off at the line if your car is leaking something and they turn your power off because in full race gear in in a cage with a halo you cant see shit.

A tether linked to a cut off thats real short to your hand would be a much safer I'd think. Just pull it, or if you crash and kocked out, your hand flys off the steering wheel anyway.

Yeah like whats on a PWC or snowmobile, you fall off and it shuts off.

Well toolbag how do you know how fast my car is? Plus your answer still does not tell me what they do any dif when its under
the hood.

Let's make this real simple like.
Cut-offs can save lives and equipment.
A fuel fire for instance will rage with the pump running but when you shut it off, fire go bye-bye.
They are not only for the safety of the driver, but rescue personnel as well.
The cut-off location needs to be in plain view on the rear most panel of the vehicle so nobody has to search for it.
On most street cars, there is little need for it.
If you want to hide it for appearance reasons, it becomes little more than a security device as when you need help from someone else, they won't be able to find it.
As Turbobuick points out, proper wiring is vital so the charging system doesn't back charge and continue to supply power.
Peace out.

I use moroso 74102 . It has 4 terminals. 2 to cut battery power, and 2 to cut alt power.

Or with a regulaer cut off you have to use painless kit # 50103 which is a charging system shutdown.

I had a car that would back feed thru the alt. I used to sometimes disconnect the fuel pump relay to get it to stop.

Thank you, this awnsers your post 85 camaro.

How does that explain why you called everyone with a cutoff switch a tool bag??? That was my question.. If your so concerned with this why not write NHRA/IHRA about it! Tell ya what I have a few switches in stock in my shop and a ton of cable bring your truck and I'll hook it up for free, cause if everyone who runs a cutoff switch is a tool bag I'd hate to see one go without a switch!!

I have my battery in the hatch simply becasue my engine bay looks bad ass and a battery will only clutter it up.

Engine bay looks bad ass? that whole car is bad ass!!:peelout:
