Foxbody mustang 2?

i was thinking that at some point in the future it would be incredibly cool to do a mustang 2 front suspension conversion on the notch, for several reasons: numerous handling and ride advantages, for comfort, and to do something a little different than the same old fake coilover strut thing everybody else does.

Also i've read install articles of trick pieces like bart's works sla front suspension kits for foxbodies, but i can't seem to locate them online to price them out.

Just curious & not bashing... What is fake about the coilover everyone else is using?:icon_frow

well, i think of it as fake because the strut is still a load bearing member of the suspension in the traditional way, and it also has to bear a lot of the side loading forces that occur while cornering, rather than the frame. in an SLA setup the upper control arm splits those loads more or less evenly with the lower arm, and they end up where they're supposed to.... at the frame. then you can run a coil spring over a shock and it only has to support the weight of the vehicle.

it lets the other suspension parts do their job better, in short.

Makes sence, Thanks for the explaination!
Seems like it would be a cool conversion.. I'm going to look into it more.

not really. i have a lot of plans to blow money. this kit really doesn't cost much more than the traditional coilover/tubular component conversion. this is just another step in the process of making this car what i want it to be. add a cobra irs and it'll handle like a 1.5 ton rail car.
