Fox spindle question

Lets say the spindles are off a fox Mustang and not on the car and don`t know witch fox they came off of......how do you know if there a v8 spindle ?

Also lets say theres a fox Mustang at the bone yard and theres no motor in the car, how do you know its a v8 Mustang ? If i need to look at the vin then what do i look for ?

yes i need v8 fox spindles for a friends car.......

Also on my v8 90 Mustang i was told i could buy the 85 86 SVO 5 lug front rotors and thats it..............what about bearings ? Do i just use my stock v8 bearings ?

I'm not sure what the dimensions are, but I had to change one of the two bearings in each spindle when I went from the 86 spindles to the 87-93 V8 ones. I think the 86 v8 ones are the same as your normal 4 cylinder ones.

On the V8 or not, I would think looking for an 8.8 or 7.5 would be the first thing I would look for in determining v8 or not. Granted someone could have put the 8.8 in it but if it has a 7.5 you know it wasn't a v8 unless someone went backwards. I'm sure there are other ways that I'm not aware of, like the vin.

Someone is sure to know more than I do here. Maybe motor mount differences, double hump trans cross-member ?????

Ya i didn`t think about the double hump trans cross-member when i was at the bone yard......How can you tell its a 7.5 rear end ??

I was pmd this last night..........thank you Dave

Tim The 8th character of the VIN will tell you if it is a 5.0 car. here is the breakdown from 82-93
82-83 F
84-86 M
87-93 E

The pre '87 V8 and later I4 front spindles are about 1/4" wider where the strut bolts unto them. If the car has front rotors, the pre '87 V8 and later I4 front rotors are 10" and the '87-'93 V8 rotors are 11".
