Former boss calls me a fag. What's the best LEGAL retaliation?

This wasn't my last check, I have one more supposedly on the way. When I talked to the office woman that does the checks yesterday, I asked for my check to be given to the supervisor that I'm still friends with. She said it was fine, but he told me after work that they wouldn't give it to him. M trying to keep my distance & let them handle it professionally. Maybe a text message defending myself against the theft accusations. I was sick of being MF'd this & that over the phone. I thought it was better if we didn't talk. Did I mention that I was deducted an extra $230 Out of my check for no reason. The last guy fired was deducted over $700 dollars. The 2 guys fired before that had to go to the labor board to get their last checks. One was even told he couldn't get his personal tools from the shop, including his Tom Tom GPS, which I returned to the guy. So, I feel its well within my right to defend myself over a text message and not have to talk with these guys. I just would like my last check, whether its the right amount or not, so I can get on with life at my new job happily.

I just found out that the woman that does the checks husband died of a massive heat attack yesterday and nobody is getting paid till Monday. All of a sudden this garbage between the owners and I seems trivial at best. He was only 46. I wish her her the best during this tragic time.
