ford to offer buyouts to 75k workers

Salaried-related work force reduced by a third, the equivalent of about 14,000 positions.
Further manufacturing capacity reductions planned.
All ACH operations to be sold or closed by the end of 2008.

John, what's ACH?

We haven't heard anything about how it's going to affect my department. (We're UAW, but white collar salaried, so those offers don't apply to us.)

Salary employees are being offered 2 2 and 1 if you have 28 years or more. From the rumors we heard.

11:30 they are having a conference call for us.

This has a good chance of costing me my job as well. probably 40% of the product that we ship currently is ACH freight.

Automotive Components Handling. AKA Visteon

ryan you newb

Its Automotive Components Holdings LLC

The plants that were Visteon that went back to ford are considered ACH. The blue collar workers that work there are "Ford". Now stay with me here, us white collar workers in Engineering/PD/finance that support the plants are "Visteon Services" employees that are leased to ACH, paid for by FoMoCo. Clear as mud?

oooook, from the news conference we saw:

500 and the mecury version
and freestyle
suppose to be refreshed and out next year.

08-09
all new f150
new focus
couple new ford crossovers
new version of a towncar under a different name

taraus and minivans will be cancelled

superduties will be shown in 2 weeks

they expect to lose more market share and money next year.

hope to be profitable by 09.

Wow this announcement really makes me feel all warm an fuzzy about the future of FoMoCo. Too bad my family didn't invest in Toyota dealerships :pow:

No offence... But you have NO CLUE on the shit the NON UNION guys take and get fucked... NO CLUE... Don't even get me started on SSV... Don't even....

I know you're pissed at SSV, but I've spent enough time in that building and UAW plants to immediately see the difference.

P.S Wall Street couldn't be any more idiotic. Ford drops like a rock today because "analysts", and I use that term loosely, say the cuts don't go nearly deep enough. Yes, Ford is walking out 14,000 (1/3) of their salaried workers and offering buyouts to all 75,000 Union workers, slashing production 26% in the next year, and it's not enough.

The only thing that would give Wall Street a smile is selling Ford Credit, which they have a huge boner for even though it would be a colossal and stupid mistake...

You only see what they want you to see... Ask good old Stevey boy why hasn't nobody received any raises since they have worked there... Including the people who been there 3+ years....

My boss was telling me that when he was working for Ford, the pipefitters would drive around the plant in their carts and look for leaky faucets to fix. When they found one, they would write a suggestion, then wouldn't touch it until their suggestion got approved. That is the mentality that has killed the UAW and all the domestic OEM's.

My wifes friends husband brags about how he goes in and plays cards all night long. Another friend of mine showed up at a party we were having on a sat night for 4 hours and went back to punch out. I dont know but If i made 28 bucks an hour i would be greatful everyday i went into that place and work as hard as im paid to. But hey what do i know. Thats just another 12 to 16 dollar an hour guy talking and we just dont understand what its like right? My friend who works there said they get enough they would get rid of all of them and have another hiring spree and bring the new people in at 18 bucks and hour tops. I said well bud, I would be first in line to.
