1. Wrong, the public perception is that Japanese built vehicles are much more quality than domestic built vehicles. I understand, given your job you are a little bias, that you want to spread the word that Ford is catching up, but it will take years and an established track record to change that public perception. I'm not talking just the midwest, I'm talking across the USA.
If you go out west, there is no domestic loyalty. Import sales trump domestic sales. And those people having been buying imports for years and years. To get them to convert to domestic is going to take a LOT of work.
2. Yes, Ford offers extended warranties at a cost. Gm and Chrysler's warranty are included in the cost. Seems like a simple answer for Ford, raise the msrp to cover an extended warranty.
