Ford GT standing miles

Ouch. +1 to the safety equipment.

Damn that is a shame. Glad to hear the driver made it.

I dont think I have the nads these days to go that fast in a factory produced car. Im sure the GT handles those speeds well but case in point any wreck that fast is going to be a bad wreck.

I think that Camaro always looked pretty out of control the faster it got going. Aerodynamics is serious business and it's really risky stuff gong that fast. When people first started going fast in Ford GTs we talked alot with people from the program that confirmed they knew the car would behave with the factory aero package all the way up to 263 mph, but thought it would behave significantly past that.

After that Lambo guy almost got killed the Lambos pretty much all gave up, the Supras bowed out when Tommy Banh had a high speed blowout and SW scattered parts everywhere at super high speed, and now this, you're seeing less and less people willing to risk life and limb. Doesn't matter who you are, something goes wrong at 250 and you're along for the ride. Not a coincidence the Hennessey car didn't make another run after the 267.6. I definitely have respect for everyone involved with that project approaching it incrementally, not getting greedy and knowing when to call it a day.

Back to the previous discussion of tires and speed rating, are those land speed tires on that Camaro?

Looking at that Camaro, which just looks like a land speed car at this point anyway, I don't really understand the mile thing any more. Just go to Bonneville.

Wow what a shame. Here's the before picture.

That must not be the before picture because the wheels/tires are different than what is mounted on the wrecked car.
