For those that think a bolt in roll cage is a good idea

right, but I would assume (which is where I shoudl know better) that anyone putting that much into a mustang to go road racing/HPDE would have SOME idea what they are doing!

I know thats not the case and there is even a local example of this (with the three balls crowd) of a mustang with a ton of stuff done and no idea whats going on.

Scary man

thats the problem, assume.
I wouldn't assume anything about anyone....Lots of track talk in the stands about how they all run 8's....

So if there were a smaller plate welded to the floor, do you think it would've punched through? The issues seems to be that the bolt-in bar punched right through the weak floor. Scary stuff for sure....

I've never installed a cage, but I believe there are rules as to where those bases plates are put in and what they are welded to. I don't think you are just supposed to weld them down to a sheet metal floor, I think part of it, at least, needs to be welded to something structural?

Aren't even bolt in cages supposed to have welded in support at the base?
