F'n Vette drivers.....

Onyxss - Looks like a Ron fellows Z06, the only ones that came in white in the earlier years and have that decal.

The stability control on those is pretty legit - amazing on the street/track wet or dry. Saved me many a times. That said, too many amateurs thinking they are Andy Pilgrim turn it to competitive mode or worse yet, off, and those modes just won't save you in the C6Z like it would the C5Zs. If he's on sport cup tires then it makes even more sense, those meats are scary in the wet at 10mph.

Looks to me like the guy misjudged where his driveway was in the rain and came up short. Got stuck in the gully in front of his house. I did that once at my house. Back tire hit a BIG bump when I cut the turn short. Had a load of wood from Home Depot in the truck too. Ha ha. DOH! Sucks living in the boonies with no streetlights. Even darker and harder to see in the rain at night.

What about the viper guy that died in the AA area...
I saw that crash on Sun. Passed it when I came down 23S to 59.

Don't worry, Vette drivers aren't the only ones who occaisionally suffer from "high performance car, low performance driver" syndrome - you can include Viper drivers as well (unfortunately the following person paid the ultimate price):

Be careful out there no matter what you drive...
I saw this article this morning. http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/2013/04/police-identify-first-viper-fatality. Sounds like he was messing around. Not a good idea on those tires in the rain/snow when it's only 35deg out. Anything below 40 on those performance tires and they are very slick. You HAVE to respect the power the car has. It will turn on you in an instant. My heart goes out to his family because I am guessing he was decapitated when that lower cable stopped the car from crossing over to the SB side. The car was on the SB side of the cable guard and I honestly thought he was going South and just went off the road. Then I read the article that said he had gotten on NB and lost it.

This is right over by me, sort of. But the guy died?! That article was pretty light on info. I thought that those cable guard rails were a bad idea. You should see how many hits they have taken between 96 and Silver Lake Road. People were hitting the thing within a week of completion. Unreal.

they work well unless your on a bike, or driving a small convertible or low profile vehicle. I personally watched a Pony double roadway semi loose it on ice on 94 near bellville and the catch fence stopped the truck entirely, it was going a good 50mph too.

I doubt that's an actual Ron Fellows car...I visited a dealership here when I saw one identical to the one in the pic and asked if it was a RF edition, and he said "no, we just put the stripes on the fenders here". So, I think it's a dealership option or something like that. At least, I hope it's not a real one...there were only 400 made total.

Looks to me like that corner and the rain had something to do with that.....People just have to be more mindful of their conditions and the car they drive.....that car didn;t spin taking that turn legally......We have a whole summer ahead of us, why not just wait until its nice to have fun!!! Or wait until you have a handle on driving a performance car before you race around!!! Shame!!!

The Viper situation is just crazy... Does anyone know if it was an M plate care or a privately owned one??

Sillyness in this post, like it!

Given that it was a Chrysler Executive (from the allpar article) and the fact that I physically saw it, I am pretty sure it was a M-Plate on that car. Hard to tell from the pic I got. I saw them peeling the roof up to get his body out of the car when I passed by.

You're ALL WRONG. It was parked there ,,,then a Sink Hole happened.
 Well given all the crazy stuff that happens, it's possible. ;)

It has Z06 body panels, and unless it has changed in recent years, the Ron Fellows edition was the only way to get a white Z06.

I love a White vet. Not a fan of the Red stripes, but I wouldn't kick it out of the garage. Bummer for sure.
